West BromWest Brom were relegated after one season back in the Premier League

Relegated West Bromwich Albion will start their 2021-22 Championship season at Bournemouth.

Fulham and Sheffield United, also relegated from the Premier League last season, begin at home to Middlesbrough and Birmingham City respectively.

Derby County, whose fixtures are interchangeable with League One's Wycombe's pending a possible EFL appeal against a decision to fine the Rams £100,000, will host Huddersfield.

The season is due to begin on 7 August.

Elsewhere, the three sides promoted from League One will all start with trips away from home.

Blackpool visit Bristol City, Peterborough go to Luton and Hull City face Preston.

Some fans were allowed back into club grounds for the Championship play-off semi-finals and final but it is not yet known how many fans will be able to attend the opening fixtures of the new season.

Tricky test for new Baggies boss and Derby uncertainty

West Brom, who were relegated under former Bolton, West Ham and England boss Sam Allardyce last season, are set to appoint Barnsley manager Valerien Ismael as their new manager and the Frenchman will face a difficult start at one of last season's beaten play-off semi-finalists.

The Cherries ended the season under the interim management of Jonathan Woodgate but it is reported they are close to appointing Fulham boss Scott Parker as his replacement.

The Tykes, beaten in the play-off semi-finals by Swansea in May, will start with a trip to Cardiff, while the Swans, who lost to Brentford at Wembley in the play-off final, visit Blackburn.

New Sheffield United boss Slavisa Jokanovic will hope he can help his new charges hit the ground running after they were relegated as the Premier League's bottom side.

However, perhaps the biggest talking point ahead of the opening weekend of the season is who Derby will face.

It was announced on Wednesday, less than 12 hours before the fixtures were released, that Derby had been fined £100,000 over some of their accounting policies.

The English Football League has the option to appeal against the verdict and may call for a points deduction – which could see the Rams relegated from the Championship.

The EFL said in a statement that, pending any appeal, it had developed an interchangeable fixture list for next season for Derby and Wycombe Wanderers – who went down after finishing 22nd in the second tier last season – while the disciplinary process is finalised.

Should the Rams, who avoided relegation by a single point on the last day of the season, be deducted points and be placed in League One they will start the campaign at Accrington in what would be a first league meeting between the two sides since March 1957.
